About Us

A lawn crew that actually understands PNW grass.

We started Portland Lawn Service because too many yards in this metro were being mowed on a schedule built for somewhere else — a place without our clay soil, our moss, or our six-month rainy season.

Why we exist

Most lawn programs are written once and mailed to every customer, everywhere — spring feeding, summer feeding, a mow route that doesn't change with the weather. That works fine in a lot of the country. It doesn't work here. Portland's cool-season grass, heavy clay soil, and long wet-to-dry swing mean the calendar that matters is a Pacific Northwest calendar, not a national one.

We built Portland Lawn Service around that idea: fewer, better-timed visits instead of a generic weekly checklist, real conversations about what your specific yard needs, and crews who've worked enough Portland-metro clay to know what a fall aeration actually fixes.

How we work

Every new customer starts with a real look at the property — soil, drainage, sun exposure, and what's actually growing (or not growing) out there. From that, we put together a plan: a mowing cadence for the season, a fertilization schedule weighted toward fall, and any one-time work like aeration or a cleanup that gets the yard caught up first.

We're licensed, bonded & insured, and we run our own crews rather than subcontracting out — the people who show up at your gate are the people we trained.

Good questions

Lawn care answers, straight.

Do you come to me, or do I bring my property to you?

We're a dispatch service — our crews come to your yard. There's no storefront to visit; every quote starts with a real look at your lawn, in person or from photos you send us.

How do I get a quote?

Fill out the contact form or call us with your address and what you're looking for. Most homeowners hear back within a business day with a straightforward price — no hard sell, no hidden add-ons.

Do I need to sign a long contract?

No. Weekly and bi-weekly mowing runs on a simple ongoing schedule you can pause or cancel with notice. One-time services like cleanups and aeration are booked as single visits.

What makes Portland lawn care different from other regions?

Our cool, wet winters and dry summers favor cool-season grasses, and clay soil that's common across the metro compacts easily and holds moss. A program built for Ohio or Texas turf doesn't translate — everything we do is timed to how grass actually grows here.
