What's included
Mowing sounds simple until it's done wrong for the climate. Cool-season lawns here — mostly perennial ryegrass and turf-type tall fescue — do best mowed higher, not shorter, especially heading into summer. A taller cut shades the soil, keeps roots cooler, and crowds out weed seedlings looking for bare ground to land on. We adjust the deck height seasonally instead of running one setting all year.
Growth rate swings hard here: a lawn that needs mowing weekly in April and May can slow to every ten days in the dry heat of August, then pick back up with fall rain. We track that and adjust your visit schedule rather than sending a crew to mow a lawn that barely grew, or letting one go too long and scalping it to catch up.
Every visit includes mowing, string trimming along fences and beds, and a blow-off of clippings from walks and driveways. Grass clippings are mulched back into the lawn when conditions are right — a light source of nitrogen that reduces how much fertilizer you need.
Good questions
Lawn Mowing & Maintenance, answered.
How often will my lawn actually need mowing?
Most Portland-metro lawns run weekly through spring and fall, and can stretch to every 10–14 days during the driest part of summer. We adjust the schedule to actual growth rather than a fixed calendar.
Do you bag the clippings?
Usually no — we mulch clippings back into the lawn, which returns some nitrogen and organic matter to the soil. We'll bag on request or when clippings are too heavy to mulch cleanly.
